NEW CLASS: Introduction to Mindful Meditation (12/30)
When was the last time you went anywhere without your phone? Or even when you are at home relaxing, do you end up scrolling for hours on your phone wondering where the time went?
We use our phones as a coping mechanism to escape from the stressors of our life. We become addicted to the instant gratification of technology, but become separate from the underlying issues we need to address within ourselves.
It can seem almost impossible to just sit and be present with your thoughts. When we take the time out of our busy schedule to close our eyes, breathe deeply and calmly process the thoughts that race through our minds, we become more in-tune to the needs of our body. We open to understanding how our thought patterns we have created through various experiences, affect our ability to make healthier decisions for ourselves.
Mindful meditation is a way to train your brain to slow down, to address the stressful thoughts that race through your mind while suspending judgment, and discover new avenues to balance out, and bring harmony, your life.
Studies have shown that consistent meditation practices can provide benefits such as:
- Better sleep
- Lowered stress levels
- Improved mental health and reduced anxiety
- Help decrease cognitive decline
- Help with depression
- Support trauma and PTSD recovery
- Help reduce blood pressure, and more.
In this class we will educate you on various approaches to a mindful meditation practice, how it relates to our thoughts and their effect on the body, and specific mindful meditation exercises to help you find which form of meditation works for you. We will guide you on a meditation that allows you to feel and experience the joy of reconnecting to self.
Give yourself the gift to start off the new year focusing on what’s truly important, you.
